The Power of Alignment: Tuning Your Body for Vocal Success

Alignment in singing is all about synchronization. It’s the process of aligning your physical and mental states to achieve optimal vocal output. By working on body posture, breathing techniques, and mental focus, singers can improve the quality of their voice and overall performance. But how does alignment work? Physically, singers must maintain a good posture—straight back, relaxed shoulders, and neck—to ensure the free flow of sound. Furthermore, to sustain a strong voice, deep diaphragmatic breathing is vital. Meanwhile, mental alignment involves focusing on the song’s message and connecting with the emotions it evokes. When body and mind work harmoniously, singers can truly convey the heart of the song to their audience. Harnessing the power of alignment requires practice, patience, and attentiveness to both physical cues and emotional nuances. But the result—more powerful, emotive singing—is worth the effort.

  1. There is specific attention to detail in regards to mindful breathing with awareness so that you’re in line with your posture

  2. I never knew how much of an impact my body had on my vocals. I can really see a difference in how I perform depending on my diet. It’s definitely easier to stretch that diaphragm after eating salad and fruit versus Chick Fil A…. LOL

    1. That’s what I love most about the classes. It’s a total mind and body experience. I’ve seen so much growth in my worship team after the experience

  3. Reading this makes me want to take the class because songs/music is just so powerful. I’ve kind of always felt that I should practice my voice more when it came to singing; but also in general because I do have a soft voice so no one can really hear me when I talk.😅
